Our Story

River Mixer is a digital space for river culture and advocacy that somehow grew to reach over one million impressions a year. At its heart, this is a field-driven project and a journalistic blog—the lifeblood of everything we do. We spend our time traveling the world to chase down stories and physically collect 144 river water samples for our collection. This hands-on obsession led us to build a Global River Health Index of over 400 waterways, where we mix hard data like Health Scores (A–F) with the ancient lore, etymology, and legends that make these rivers icons. Lately, we’ve been having some fun in our creative studio, Basin Beats™, experimenting with “Rhythmic Recognitions.” It’s our way of turning the pulse of the water into a permanent musical legacy—from Kitabu™ musical book endorsements to BioTribute™ sessions for people doing great things for the planet, and BasinScore™ tracks that turn river data into a beat. Whether it’s a bottle of water from a remote stream, a deep-dive blog post, or a new track, we’re just here to archive the pulse of the planet and have a good time doing it.

Quick Stats

Featured Recognition

  • Kitabu™ Rhythmic Impact: “I am completely blown away by this gorgeous, powerful, incredibly cool (!!!) song inspired by my book… It captures the essence of the story so beautifully.” — Candice Millard, New York Times Bestselling Author of River of the Gods

  • Cited on Wikipedia: We’re just bloggers, but our field notes and travel stories on the Litani River are officially cited as a primary source on Wikipedia. It turns out the world’s encyclopedia actually reads the blog for the real-deal cultural history and travel lore.

  • Luminary Harvests: We don’t just write about it; we’re in the water. Our physical archive features signature samples like the Little White Salmon River, hand-collected for us by world-record explorer Tyler Bradt.

As Seen In

We officially launched the Basin Beats™ studio to a global audience of over 8 million. The debut earned featured recognition from IBTimes and Digital Journal, drawing interest from over 5,000 accredited journalists worldwide.
